

| EARLY FALL CLASS SCHEDULE 2008 Studio Time August 23 (8-11 am) $15.00 Need a place to make a mess? Not enough room at home to paint that fabric? Come join us for Studio Time. Use our space to create to your hearts content. Beginner Class #3- August 13, 27, September 10, 24 , 7-9:30 Class: $100 for the 4 sessions Next class forming for October/November- call for dates Cost of fabric and supplies: vary with your selections and the tools that you have We will teach you all the basics starting with picking fabric for your quilt, using a rotary cutter and ruler, then strip piecing, adding sashings and borders. Oh but you are not done yet, we teach sandwiching your quilt and hand and machine quilting. Then you also learn how to make and put on your binding. At the end of this class you will have the confidence to move on to your next quilt project Dear Jane Quilt- Carol Grant October 1,8, 15, 22 (7-9) Saturday section: 10-12 every Saturday in October Class: $45 for the 4 sessions Dear Jane Quilts are hard to resist. The blocks are small, but the designs are fantastic. This class will start around the time the new Dear Jane fabric collection is released. There is a Dear Jane in the back of the store (it’s Claire’s, but I haven’t had the time to hand quilt it yet). You won’t get to make all the blocks in 4 weeks, but you will be on your way. We are hoping that this group will continue on as a Dear Jane Club, so that everyone can meet and keep working on their blocks together after the class ends. This quilt provides a real connection to our quilting past. It offers you an opportunity to piece some different blocks and let’s you use those great fat quarters of reproduction fabrics that are in your stash. Hand Appliqué- Carol Grant August 14, 28, Sept. 11, 25 7-9pm Class: $45 for the 4 sessions Pattern required: Flowers from the Garden This is an absolutely beautiful Appliqué piece from Lori Smith. Carol is making hers from Moda's Dandelion Girl but it would be equally beautiful in reproduction fabrics. A beautiful blue floral wallpaper rose fabric from Moda's Natalie line came in today and it would look awesome as the border. Carol will work 4 different blocks with the group, demonstrating different Appliqué techniques. The group may opt to continue to meet after the class and form an Appliqué Club. Mini Charmer Tote, Donna Merritt, September 15, 10:00 - 1:00 NEW DATE!! Class: $35.00 Always wanted to try your hand at making your own purse, but something held you back. Come on out for this class with Donna. She will take you from fat quarters to a fabulous tote while dispelling your doubts about fabric construction Embroidery Club, September 8th, October 13th, November 10th Fee: $5.00/month Come join a great group of women the second Mondays of each month from 7:30 to 9:30. You can work on your own embroidery project or join in the first group chosen project of beautiful teacups. Improve your skills, while sharing laughs and stitches. Benefits include: 1. Face Class, Bunny Goode September 9th 1:00 - 4:00 Class: $35.00 Kit: $1.00 Everyone oohs and ahhs over Bunny’s great doll faces. In this class she will teach two types of doll heads, flat and three dimensional. Bunny makes sure that everyone is successful and leaves class with two beautiful doll faces all ready for you to add bodies to. With the hardest and most captivating part finished your completed dolls can’t be far away. Sew What Fridays, September 12, 26, October 3, 10, 17, 6:00 - 10:00 Fee: $15.00 Enjoy 4 hours of uninterrupted quilting time. This is a great block of time to finish some of those UFO”s, meet with other quilters, share ideas, stories and get some help if you need it. As the Holidays approach we are adding extra Sew What dates as you can see above in October. This is the perfect time to work on those gifts without being seen or stopped to find the remote. Sew What Mondays, August 25, September 15, 29, October 13, 27 10:00 - 2:00 Fee: $15.00 The kids are back at school, now you can work in the time to finish those projects before the Holidays. If you just can’t make our meeting time on Fridays this could be the answer for you, come out Monday mornings and be back in time for the after school running. This works just like Sew What Fridays, if you would like to meet with other quilters, share some laughs and even get advice and help if needed then join us. Yoyo Class, Donna Merritt, September 13th, 10:00 - 11:00 Class: $10.00 Beginner This quick class is a great lesson in making yoyos. Donna makes it all look easy. It is a great technique to use up all those scraps and lends itself not only to magnificent yoyo quilts, but also to appliqué and craft projects. For a fun example take a look at Donna’s next class Yoyo Snowman on the 27th. Autumn Landscape, Susan Losapio, September 16, 23, 7:00 - 9:00 pm Class: $40.00/ 2 sessions Create your own landscape quilt celebrating the colors of Fall. We will use fabric painting, appliqué and drawing techniques to end up with a fabulous original art quilt. If you have a favorite photo depicting the season bring it along for inspiration. Falling Leaves, Lynn DeCristofaro, September 17th, 1:00 - 4:00 Class: $35.00 Intermediate We have all enjoyed looking at Lynn’s quilt in the shop begging for a class. Well here it is, come join Lynn and learn this striking pattern. The day of the class you will make a table runner that you can easily take home and add to making a quilt in your desired size. Disappearing Nine Patch, Joyce Siedentop, September 19th, 7:00 - 9:00 pm Class: $25.00 Beginner This is a fun easy quilt with surprising design twists. Beginners and all levels will enjoy this class. You can chose any style of fabric, all looks great. This would definitely be a quilt that could be finished in time for the holidays. So come out and follow along with Joyce for a couple of enjoyable hours. Snapshots, Maria Sendzik, September 20th, 10:00-4:00 Class: $45.00 Book Required Beginner This is a great pattern from Happy Hour by Atkinson. Maria skillfully guides you through this class ending with a finished quilt top. The completed quilt has a versatile look spanning from scrappy to abstract depending on your fabric choices. Here is another project that could easily be a gift for someone on your list. Yoyo Snowman, Donna Merritt, September 27th, 10:00 - 12:00 Class:$20.00 Beginner Nothing cuter than this Yoyo Snowman. Donna teaches a really fun class and you leave with a great wintertime decoration for your home or gift to give (would make a great hostess gift for the season). Never made yoyos before check out Donna’s class on 9/13. Leafing Out, Susan Losapio, September 27, 2:00 - 4:00, Class: $25.00 Fee: $5.00 Technique This is a cool class that explores several different ways to use leaves to create original designs in fabric. Sunprinting, color discharge, and printing are among the techniques touched on during the class. You will take home fabrics that could be used in a great Fall themed quilt. Dear Jane, Carol Grant, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 7:00 - 9:00 pm or October 4, 11, 18, 25, 10:00 - 12:00 Class: $45.00 for 4 sessions Book required, Hand and machine piecers welcome I know you have seen the Dear Jane quilts and marveled at the petite blocks and the incredible amount of variety in their patterns. Carol will be teaching a couple of blocks during each class while imparting her knowledge about Jane and her life. This is a great way to learn to work these small and somewhat intimidating blocks. This class also has the possibility of later becoming a club. Latticework, Maria Sendzik, October 5th, 10:00 - 4:00 Class: $45.00 Pattern required Intermediate Latticework is a really cool Eleanor Burns pattern. Although this pattern may look tricky Maria takes her time and skillfully teaches you all that you will need know to complete this wonderful pattern. She makes it easy. Christmas Redwork, Joyce Siedentop, October 7th, 10:00 - 12:00 Class: $20.00 Beginner Joyce has some festive patterns picked out to grace your Christmas season. Come join her and learn this vintage craft while creating these tea towels another great gift if you can bear to part with them. Log Cabin Quilt, Maria Sendzik, October 19th, 10:00 - 12:00 Class: $45.00 Beginner This is a classic pattern that is a great staple to have in your quilting bag of tricks. Maria will teach the log cabin block and show you the different ways to rotate this pattern to come up with many varied looks. This is a class that you can leave with a quilt top finished. Bunny’s Snowman, November 6th, 6:00 - 9:00 pm Class: $25.00 Pattern required-Beginner Come learn how to make this adorable Snowman along with staging his wintry scene. If you are new to doll making this is a great place to start. Bunny’s Snowman is a stationary doll that you can later, after learning the “pancake technique”, add the whole Winter’s family. This is another great gift and you can personalize it for the lucky recipient.
